In this context, Union Finance Minister of India Nirmala Sitharaman also expressed her views in an interview given to a news publication.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that Artificial Intelligence (AI) also needs human intervention and it is not going to operate on its own.
She, while assuring allaying the fears of unemployment due to artificial intelligence, said that AI technology also depends on human intervention.
Having asked about addressing the issue of unemployment, especially with investment in highly skilled and technology-driven industries like AI, which may lead to reduction in job opportunities, Nirmala Sitharaman said, “You have to address the issue of unemployment. “There is no doubt about that.” , But, do you think the jobs are only there? AI also requires human intervention. It’s not going to operate on its own.
She said that we need investments and if AI technology creates jobs then it is good. Even if investment does not directly bring many jobs, having a business in an area can create other jobs.
So it is clear that there is at present no threat to people’s jobs due to the advent of AI technology. So in my opinion, instead of paying attention to rumors, there is a need to focus on work and keep developing skills.
