Cyber Crime Team launch first Cyber Protect and Prevent Hackathon of UK
CodeSecure is the UK’s first cyber protect and prevent hackathon event which runs at Wrexham University on Friday 16th February, 2024.
The North Wales Police Cyber Crime Team, supported by Wrexham University and Cyber Wales, will challenge participants to create real-life solutions to cyber crime.
This free event will see the Police join forces with industry professionals, students, cyber security enthusiasts and individuals to help inform members of the public and businesses about how to stay safe online.
Once ideas have been developed, individuals and teams will have the opportunity to showcase their work in front of a panel of experts who will evaluate the proposed solutions on the day.
PC Davy Owen, from the Cyber Crime Team, said: “Everyone will know someone who has been affected by online fraud, cyber crime or computer misuse. The CodeSecure Hackathon aims to bring people together to develop innovative and exciting ideas that will make a real difference and enable us to protect communities and businesses in North Wales from the latest cyber threats.”

He also said that they are excited to have the opportunity to work with a diverse group of individuals as part of the first event of its kind in the UK, looking to use new tools in unprecedented ways in our effort to reduce and prevent cyber crime.
The best ideas on the day will be developed and used by the NWP Cyber Crime Team and certificates will be given to all who participated as well as small prizes for the best ideas.
