What Is Phishing?
In Phishing, attackers send a link or email with an attractive message to trap people.
These messages are usually like claiming rewards, claiming tax refund, confirming and rescheduling delivery or locking your online banking account, which attract people.
Cyber criminals make you click on the links given in such emails and through this they try to steal your sensitive information like user ID, password, date of birth, credit card or debit card number and its CVV etc. If you click on such links, your data may be compromised and you may fall into the clutches of fraudsters.
Let me tell you here that no bank ever asks you for your sensitive data, credit card or debit card number or PIN, OTP etc.
Therefore, if someone does this, be alert and do not click on any such link or open such email even by mistake.
What Is Vishing?
On one hand, in the phishing method, cyber criminals try to steal your data by using email, on the other hand, in the vishing method, these criminals pretend to be fake bank employees or something like this and try to deceive you by making fake calls.
By making fake calls they try to obtain your important and personal information through fake phone calls just like phishing.
This information includes your personal details like bank user id, Login ID, Transaction password, OTP, Unique registration number, card pin, grid card value, CVV, Date of birth etc.
After grabbing all the details, these cyber criminals use them without your permission to conduct fraudulent activities and cause financial loss to you.
What Is Smishing?
Where in Vishing, cyber attackers make fake telephonic calls and try to extract important information from you, they use SMS in Smishing. Motive is same. Hackers want to hack your precious data.
What Is Pharming?
Through pharming, cyber attackers deceive people by using fake websites.
Cyber criminals try to deceive people by using exactly the same fake website so that people share their sensitive information thereon.
This way your data is grabbed by the attackers. Once you share your sensitive data on such a fake website, your data gets compromised.
How To Avoid Phishing, Vishing, Smishing and Pharming?
Let me tell you that no bank will send you an email with a fake link, call you or send SMS to obtain the sensitive information like CVV of your credit cards/debit cards etc.
Therefore, if anyone ever asks you about any of your personal information like bank user ID, login ID, password, OTP, unique registration number, card PIN, CVV, Aadhaar card etc., you should be alert.
Do not share any information, report to the bank immediately.
Along with this, check the amount in your bank account immediately. If you find any kind of deduction, then complain about it to the bank or financial institution concerned, without any delay.
Let me remind you one more time that people are advised by the bank not to share any of their personal information with anyone. Do not click on any link related to banking services.
Because no bank will ever ask you to click on any random link. The bank always asks its customers to visit their nearest branch for any kind of help.
Always use the official website of the bank or financial institution. Also avoid the habit of searching their URL on search engines. By clicking on a wrong link you can get into a very serious situation.
